Glover has reached great heights in his multifaceted career in the entertainment industry. From his music as Childish Gambino (an artist with psychedelic soul), comedy special Weirdo (2010) on Netflix, the portrayal of young Lando Calrissian in space western film Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), or his exceptional writing for the NBC sitcom 30 Rock (2006–2012), He can do it all.

nAccording to the Hollywood Reporter, Glover, creator of the hit series Atlanta is exiting his deal with Disney-owned FX ,and has entered into an eight-figure deal with Amazon that is set to include a collection of sorts that will spotlight Glover’s work and other curated content on Amazon’s Prime Video service — but there is more.

nThis deal with Amazon, which has been in the works for weeks, brings forth the opportunity for Glover to be an executive producer on more projects than just his own, on the larger-than-life streaming service. With that being said, reportedly one very project is already beginning to come together.

nHave you ever wanted to get an inside look at what the life of Beyonce is like? Well, a potential series called Hive, which is rumored to revolve around a Beyoncé-like figure is in the works. Created in the mind of writer Janine Nabers, Supervising Producer on the first and second episodes of HBO’s Watchmen and Co-Executive Producer on Netflix’s Away. The project has already begun staffing a writers room, with Malia Obama allegedly being among those recruited to work on the series.

nHer name may come as a surprise to some that may not be familiar with Malia Obama, other than being Barack and Michelle Obama’s eldest daughter. Yet, Obama, currently a student at Harvard University, has already tried her hand in the TV and film industry for some years. In 2015, she interned for the popular HBO series Girls.

nTwo years later, the creator of Girls, Lena Dunham, in an interview with Howard Stern had nothing but positive things to say about former President Barack Obama’s eldest daughter.

“She’s an angel… she was interning at HBO, and they thought, What if she comes a couple of days a week to the set of Girls? She loved the show, and I mean, obviously, we weren’t, like, making her go get our coffee. You’re not going to send [the president’s daughter to get coffee]. But she wanted to do all the jobs. That was the cool thing. She was totally enthusiastic.”

nIn the light of her mother, Michelle Obama’s recently announced new Netflix children’s show, “Waffles + Mochi,” premiering on March 16 it seems the entertainment apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

n

Resources:

nMiller, Julie. ”What Happened When Malia Obama Interned On HBO’S Girls”.
