With <em>four-hundred-and-thirty yards</em> passing, 5 touchdowns, and<em> one-hundred</em> yards rushing, people were on the edge of their seats. They watched D’eriq carefully pick apart the North Carolina State Wolf Pack defense. But, what if I were to tell you D’eriq put up those magnificent numbers with a heavy heart?</p><p style="text-align:auto">nTwo days before the important conference game, D’eriq King got the news. His former Houston Cougar teammate and friend Ka’Darian Smith was shot, and killed. Normally when you lose someone close to you it can have an enormous impact on your state of mind. With a heavy heart and his head all over the place, most would think he wouldn’t truly be able to push through. Instead, he put together an extraordinary performance including a game-winning drive. D’eriq King ultimately dedicated this game to his late friend, using the tragic news to motivate him, and pushed him to give it his all.</p><p style="text-align:auto">nIn this game alone, college football fans witnessed that King has the heart of a lion and possesses all the intangibles to play at the next level. With this being his last college season, King is putting together a resume that no one could miss! Through seven games King has accumulated 1,828 yards and 16 touchdowns while only having four interceptions. This season thus far has been a showcase for King to show what a dynamic quarterback he can be.</p>]]>
