Has the well of ideas dry up at Hollywood? Did the spinning top from Inception stop or keep spinning away? Well, we may never know the answer to the last question, but the streamer giant, Netflix, responds with an arsenal of new films coming out every week for 2021.</p><p style="text-align:auto">nYes, you heard that right. <a href="https://about.netflix.com/en/news/netflix-2021-film-preview" target="_blank">In a press release in mid-January</a>, Netflix will provide a wide range of original films-either by productions from Netflix or intriguing acquisitions-for 2021. Their film slate consists of multiple genres from westerns (<em>The Harder They Fall, Concrete Cowboy</em>), zombies (<em>Army of the Dead</em>), high-action thrillers (<em>Red Notice, Sweet Girl, Kate</em>), and family-friendly adventures (<em>Yes Day, Back to the Outback, Finding Ohana</em>).</p><p style="text-align:auto">nNetflix’s released a <a href="https://youtu.be/L9t86v_JMG0" target="_blank">sizzle reel</a> showcasing some of their biggest actors/actresses for their 2021 roster, including Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Zendaya, John David Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Octavia Spencer, David Bautista, Jennifer Lawerence, Gal Gadot, and Meryl Streep. Hollywood’s top-notch filmmakers also join in on the fun since the streaming platform has become a safe space for creators to write, direct, and produce films that, in other cases, are not studio friendly. Zach Synder (Army of the Dead), Jane Campion (The Power of the Dog), Adam McKay (Don’t Look Up) along with Joe Wright, Antoine Fuqua, Shawn Levy, Robert Pulcini, and Shari Springer Berman will premiere their films on Netflix.</p><p style="text-align:left">Some A-list stars will also get a chance to flex their directing muscle. <a href="https://www.playbill.com/article/netflix-secures-rights-to-tick-tickboom-movie-directed-by-lin-manuel-miranda" target="_blank"><em>Tick, Tick…Boom!</em></a><a href="https://www.playbill.com/article/netflix-secures-rights-to-tick-tickboom-movie-directed-by-lin-manuel-miranda" target="_blank"> </a>will be the directorial debut of Hamilton star and Tony winner Lin Manuel Miranda. Oscar-winner Halle Berry’s first directed film, <a href="https://www.blackenterprise.com/halle-berrys-directorial-debut-bruised-sells-to-netflix-for-20-million/#:~:text=Halle%20Berry%20made%20her%20directorial,with%20Netflix%20for%20worldwide%20distribution" target="_blank">Bruised</a>, which screened at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, was acquired by Netflix to screen worldwide.</p><p style="text-align:auto">nIt’s no surprise that Netflix was one of the big winners in 2020 despite a worldwide pandemic. Unlike their competitors (i.e., Disney, Warner Bros, Sony), they don’t have theater chains breathing down their necks to release films in their theaters (<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-backlash-against-warner-bros-hbo-max-plan-explained-2020-12#:~:text=faces%20major%20Hollywood%20backlash%20over,same%20day%20they%20hit%20theaters&text=%22Dune%22%20Warner%20Bros.,day%20they%20arrive%20in%20theaters" target="_blank">Warner Bros is facing backlash having their movies in theaters and HBO Max</a>). Therefore, they can release their movies anytime they want, with the viewer seeing them at any time. Plus, since customers are staying indoors to avoid catching the virus, that gives Netflix more potential customers to entertain.</p><p style="text-align:auto">nAs Netflix continues to create more content and filmmakers/production companies look to streaming services to promote their films, 2021 could be the beginning of what most were always predicting: The slow extinction of movie theaters.</p><p style="text-align:auto">nProvided by <a href="https://variety.com/2021/film/news/netflix-2021-new-movies-every-week-1234882900/" target="_blank">Variety</a>, here are the films set for release on Netflix in 2021:</p><p style="text-align:auto">n<strong>ACTION</strong></p><p style="text-align:auto">nArmy of the Dead</p><p style="text-align:left">Awake</p><p style="text-align:left">Kate</p><p style="text-align:left">Outside the Wire (January 15)</p><p style="text-align:left">Red Notice</p><p style="text-align:left">Sweet Girl</p><p style="text-align:auto">n<strong>HORROR</strong></p><p style="text-align:auto">n<em>Fear Street Trilogy</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>No One Gets Out Alive</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>There’s Someone Inside Your House</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Things Heard and Seen</em></p><p style="text-align:auto">n<strong>THRILLER</strong></p><p style="text-align:auto">n<em>Blood Red Sky</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Beckett</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Escape from Spiderhead</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Intrusion</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Munich</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>O2</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Night Teeth</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The Swarm</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The Woman in the Window</em></p><p style="text-align:auto">n<strong>SCI-FI</strong></p><p style="text-align:auto">n<em>Stowaway</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>ROMANCE</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>A Castle For Christmas</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Fuimos Canciones</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Kissing Booth 3</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Love Hard</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The Last Letter from Your Lover</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The Princess Switch 3</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>To All The Boys: Always and Forever</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Untitled Alicia Keys Rom-Com</em></p><p style="text-align:auto">n<strong>DRAMA</strong></p><p style="text-align:auto">n<em>Beauty</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Blonde</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Bombay Rose</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Bruised</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Concrete Cowboy</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Fever Dream</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Malcolm & Marie (February 5)</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Monster</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Penguin Bloom (January 27)</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Pieces of Woman (January 7)</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The Dig (January 29)</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The Guilty</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The Hand of God</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The Power of the Dog</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The Starling</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>The White Tiger (January 22)</em></p><p style="text-align:left"><em>Unt.
