“Ok Gayle, Enough!: SoHo Karen Goes Wild

In this situation, it was a 14-year-old teenager over a missing iPhone. It seems that 2020 couldn’t go peacefully into the night without stirring up old wounds regarding race, bigotry, and discrimination.nnnOn December 26th, 2020, Keyon Harrold Sr, distinguished jazz trumpeter, vocalist, songwriter, producer, and son of the same name, was accused by Ponsetto of taking her iPhone with no evidence. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/tv/CJR6LviHFkd/?utm_source=ig_embed" target="_blank">In a minute-long video shared on Harrold’s Instagram</a>, the young Karen is yelling at Arlo Hotels’ manager (where both the father and son were residing) that the child took her phone and wanted to see it for herself. The manager asked to see the phone in which Harrold Sr. refused.nnnHarrold voices his frustration as he states that his son is not the only one with an iPhone. The video ended with Ponsetto lunging after Harrold Jr. and pushed to the floor. The hotel’s surveillance cameras later show that she tackled his son to the floor. Before things got any worse, an uber driver came up and informed her that she left her phone in their car. She left without even offering an apology to Mr. Harrold or his son.nnnThe video went viral, with thousands demanding the arrest of Ponsetto. Working with the NYPD, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/police-arrest-miya-ponsetto-after-she-falsely-accused-black-teen-n1253443" target="_blank">the Ventura County Officers arrested Ponsetto</a> with force as she resisted arrest, including not getting out of her car and slamming the car door on one of the officers.nIt appears this is not her first run-in with the law:n</p><ul></ul><p style="text-align:auto">Throughout this ordeal, Ponsetto shows no remorse nor self-accountability for her actions. That became more clear after her destructive interview with <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/miya-ponsetto-gayle-king-interview-accusation-black-teen/" target="_blank">Gayle King on CBS This Morning</a>. Fumbling around her words like a five-year-old in trouble, she apologies to the Harrold family but states she is not the monster people are portraying her to be. In her defense, she claimed she wasn’t racially profiling the teen or be racist because she is a “woman of color.” Ponsetto’s attorney, Sharen Ghatan, attempted to paint her client as a young woman going through anxiety attacks. However, while proudly wearing a hat with the word “daddy” on it, she cuts off King, who was letting her know of her actions, with a hand motion and saying, “Ok Gayle, that’s enough!”nnnPonsetto has been charged with two counts of attempted assault, attempted robbery, and endangering a child.</p><p style="text-align:auto">n</p>]]>
